"Per your request for Verpa photos... here's Verpa conica, and Verpa bohemica. Here in Portland, OR, the bohemicas come on first, some growing to 8 or 9 inches tall! The smaller, smooth-top conicas come on next and are our sign that the first black Morels aren't far behind. Yum! Not an eater of Verpage m'self, but I often run into folks in the field who claim to have eaten them for years. Personally, I can wait a week.
