I have a few black morel spots that produce every year around CHVNP. Last year we were hit hard by El Nino and it got super warm by February-Early March. I wanted to check my spots not to pick any, but see the earliest morel I could find. I had learned from past years black morchellas do not mind light snow. I was not disappointed and found some as early as March 26th shown here in the photos. The crazy thing is that one by the moss could have been up 3-7 days before I found it!
